‘S’ Stiffener
Specification and Product Detail

Application
Fitted to the outside of ductwork between the cross joints to strengthen the ductwork and reduce vibration. Unlike angle iron, the Stiffener provides a simple and economical method of stiffening ductwork
.

Features
No secondary protection of the stiffener required
Fixing centres rolled into the stiffener during
manufacture to reduce fitting time.
Easier and quicker fitting time by drilling stiffener
and ductwork for fasteners in single operation.
More convenient –Stiffener can be fitted after the
ductwork jointing system has been fitted.
Cost savings –By allowing the use of shorter
fasteners than when using RSA.
Stiffener frame can be made up using fasteners
or spot welded together reducing time to
assemble over using a welded RSA frame.
Manufactured to comply with Fig.19 of the HVCA
specification DW/144

suit the ductwork height plus twice the stiffener height.
Position one length of stiffener onto the ductwork and
fix into position, repeat the procedure for the other sec-
tions of stiffener.Fix the four corners of the stiffeners
together by either spot welding or fasteners to complete
