Application The slide on flange system is used by sheet metal contractors to join together air conditioning, ventilation or extract ductwork. Unlike angle iron, which involves drilling the fixing holes and connecting with nuts and bolts, the contractor simply cuts the flange to the ductwork dimensions, fits purpose made corner pieces to form a frame, and fits this onto either end of the ductwork section by means of spot welding or riveting. The ductwork is then bolted together with a gasket between the flanges to make the joint airtight. This allows the completed ductwork system to transfer or extract air to the required location. |
